Spreading the Word
September 3, 2008
I know there are a lot of Moms out there that have either dreamed of, tried or are working from home and/or starting a business. So many times I have heard Moms looking for the easiest/best/cheapest way to make some extra spending money/bill money/second income/primary income. I’ve seen a lot of Moms not understanding what is needed to accomplish that goal. Sadly, in the Mommy Entrepreneur community, there is a massive misunderstanding of what is required to start, run and grow a business. There are success stories, but for each success story, there are many, many failures.
Through the Smart Moms Smart Business forum, I have met Colleen, the next Mommy Entrepreneur Success Story. She has been developing a business for the past five years. She has set a goal to raise $30,000 in 30 days.
Why do I think she will be a success story? Several reasons, I’ll share the most important ones.
First, did you notice that I said she has been researching and developing this business for five years? This is not something she came up with last night and is jumping headlong into. She knows her market (really, this could be a point in and of itself) and her product. She has a plan!
Second, she has drive, she sets goals and then works (hard) to meet them.
Finally, she has a passion for her product and her market. She has something that she believes is needed, believes will make a difference. She has a mission.
So she has set a goal of $30,000 in 30 days. You can follow her progress at her new blog, titled the same as the business Loose Thread Stitchers. I will be following along myself. When you check out the blog, would you would consider giving the post a thumbs up with your StumbleUpon toolbar?
There are several ways you can help this Mom reach her goals if you feel inclined.
- Donating through ChipIn
- Bidding on items up for auction from Everyday Act of Kindness
- Blogging about her venture
- Use Stumble Upon to thumbs up her blog
- Share her link through groups or forums
- Watch her blog for more of her fundraising efforts (she will also be auctioning items off)
Follow along with me and watch this Mom make her dream come true!
